‪#‎UkraineNewsAlert‬ RUSSIA AND ITS PROXIES KEEP ON VIOLATING MINSK AGREEMENTS

Number of ceasefire violations in Donbas remains unacceptably high. Over the past month the combined Russian-separatist forces have been persistently violating arrangements on full and comprehensive ceasefire as well as infringing all their commitments under the Minsk Agreements.

May was overshadowed with the highest toll of casualties among Ukrainian servicemen since August 2015. 28 soldiers were killed and 96 were wounded.

In addition to shellings and provocations, Russian-separatist forces intensified their subversive activities, attacking Ukrainian positions and mining the roads.

On the night of 29 May 2016, in militant-controlled village of Mineralne (Donetsk region) an OSCE SMM UAV spotted two 152 mm caliber howitzers "Akatsiya", firing in the direction of Avdiyivka and hitting close to the location of the monitors. The SMM also continues reporting heavy jamming of its UAVs over the occupied territories.
The uncontrolled border remains a critical impediment to the de-escalation as Russia continues sending its weaponry, regular troops and mercenaries to Donbas. On 30 May 2016, Ukrainian servicemen, fighting back an attack by terrorist subversive group, seized a modern infantry flame-thrower MRO-A, used by the Russian Armed Forces since 2003.

On 27 May – 3 June 2016, Russia supplied through the uncontrolled sections of the Ukrainian state border to Donbas nearly 2500 tons of fuel, more than 160 tons of ammunition, 9 MLRS "Grad", 2 self-propelled artillery systems "Akatsiya", 36 "T-72" tanks and 6 armored vehicles.

Establishing a sustainable ceasefire and comprehensive security remains a basic precondition for progress on other aspects of the Minsk agreements.
Ukraine urges Russia to respect its commitments under international law, to stop its aggression against Ukraine and reverse the illegal occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea along with the city of Sevastopol.
